Christine is an author, photographer, literature professor, designer, and host of Alpenglow Cabin. She has always been passionate about nature, culture, and the handmade, finding sustenance in the bits of beauty that hide in the cracks of the everyday. As a writer, she honors the power of words to elucidate, disrupt, and heal. As a literature professor, she values deep listening and the safe exchange of ideas that can lead to meaningful social change. Christine speaks Spanish fluently and spent many years learning and volunteering in underserved communities in Ecuador, Guatemala, and North Philadelphia. A lover of beauty and community in all their mysterious forms, Christine hopes to create welcoming spaces where others can slow down and hear their soul.

Christine’s most recent book is Tiny Dino Worlds: Create Your Own Prehistoric Habitats (Roost, 2020). Her essays and photos appear in Taproot, Bella Grace, barre3 Magazine, and 5280 Magazine. She is also the author of Dress Culture in Late Victorian Women's Fiction: Literacy, Textiles, and Activism (Routledge, 2009) and scholarly essays in Victorian studies. Christine has a PhD in English Literature from the University of Delaware and over a decade of experience teaching literature and creative writing as well as Ink & Stem retreats. Christine’s succulent and terrarium designs have been featured in Martha Stewart, 5280, and the Denver Post. Her photos, design, and hospitality at Alpenglow Cabin have been featured in Dwell, Apartment Therapy, Condé Nast, and more.

When not camping or hiking with her husband and two amazing sons, you can find Christine whipping up a mess in the kitchen, dancing to salsa music, digging in the garden, or plotting far-fetched travel. There will always be a stack of books and a cup of black tea nearby. She lives in Denver, Colorado.
